From Signature Sam’s Desk: Is There a Podcast for This?
Sam’s commute used to consist of traffic, silence, and a mild disagreement with his GPS. Then, one morning, he wondered whether revenue cycle had a podcast.
It does. Several, in fact.
By the end of the week, Sam had a sticky note with six names on it and a growing habit of saying “huh” out loud in traffic.
Revenue Cycle Has a Deeper Podcast Bench Than You’d Think
It turns out revenue cycle has quite a few podcasts, and a good number of them speak directly to what happens at the front desk. Here are six that are actively publishing, each with a new episode in the past couple of weeks:
- All Access Pass Podcast (Patient Access Collaborative): Scheduling, access centers, capacity management, referrals, and technology across ambulatory access. New episodes monthly.
- For The Love of Revenue Cycle (Vanessa Moldovan): Practical talk on front-office workflows, eligibility, authorizations, denials, and leadership. About every two weeks.
- Revenue Cycle Optimized (Infinx): Eligibility, prior authorization, denials, charge capture, and automation. Multiple episodes a week.
- Becker’s CFO + Revenue Cycle Podcast (Becker’s Healthcare): Finance and revenue cycle leaders on payer challenges, patient financial services, and operations. Several episodes a week, so relevance varies by episode.
- The Hospital Finance Podcast (Besler): Hospital revenue, reimbursement, and regulatory changes, including Patient Access topics. Weekly.
- Voices in Healthcare Finance (HFMA): Healthcare finance policy and practice that gives Patient Access staff broader context. About every two weeks.
Worth noting: some of these podcasts are produced by third-party vendors or suppliers rather than independent industry organizations or individuals.
Pick One, Press Play
Nobody has to listen to everything. Pick a show that matches whatever you’re living with this week: eligibility and denials, access leadership, or the policy headlines that keep landing on your desk.
Sam’s advice is to write down anything useful. His sticky note is full, so he’s starting a second one.
Signature Sam’s Final Word
A good podcast won’t replace your training, your policies, or your supervisor. It can turn a commute into professional development and give you language for problems you’ve been living with. So press play, take notes, and tell us what’s in your rotation.
Sam is already taking recommendations. The second sticky note has plenty of room.
